Well, i have accidentally discovered i may be a 400m runner!
Having competed in a sprint triathlon recently, i had no option but to run a 400! I came away with a time of 51.3. With no prior training for 400m, i am pretty sure that a decent time can be achieved.
I then raced in the last Northern league meeting at spenborough and achieved a time of 50.9 almost 3 seconds ahead of second place!
So, i now have a new target to aim for... below 50 seconds!
I have two opportunities to run this time. One at Gateshead (22nd august) in the Tartan games, and the other at the West Yorkshire League championships (6th september).
I will have to seriously reconsider my training for next season if i see myself as a 400m runner!

oops, i accidently posted this on the wrong blog! Oh well....
That's impressive Steve. A sub-50 400m is a great goal to shoot for. Go for it!
I raced in the Tartan games at the weekend. I came first in the 400m! My time was 50.1 seconds, im so close! I need to get sub 50 before the season ends, im so determined now!
Ive searched for a few open meetings, and now i am racing in Mansfield on sat 29th aug, trafford ac 2nd september and WYL championship on 6th sept.... so theres my three chances
You got some good times all round looking at the results. Im doing the Doncaster open on Monday and the York open on the 12th. Might do the trafford one but its on a Monday isnt it?
I think the trafford open is on 2nd sept, tuesday. I may enter this also... I think i may also enter the Mansfield Harriers open this saturday, you can enter on the day.. details are on their website. Then there is also the WYL championship on 6th Sept..
My mistake, Trafford open is 1st september, still a tuesday though!
Finally, last race of the season, 49.6 seconds in the 400!
Well done Steve, I think that's one hell of an achievement. Are you going to focus on the 400m next season then?
Yes, i will be doing now! It will be tougher, but worth it, hopefully i can bring the time down even further!
