The handicap was an interesting but not altogether accurate mid-season form guide with race starved Lee Warburton giving us a taste of what we had been missing by hammering a not too bothered Jeff Hornby (both on ‘scratch’) and setting a new course record of 32.28. Lee did not dare to venture onto the country (due to a dodgy knee) for most of the season but came good just in time for an amazing run in the ‘National’ where once again he hammered Jeff Hornby, this time Jeff was bothered.
